Ms. Ruby Jaspreet

Ms. Ruby Jaspreet assumed charge as Consul General of India in Cape Town, South Africa on 18th January, 2025.  She joined the Indian Foreign Service in the year 2009 and has served the Government of India in various roles and positions, with her diplomatic career spanning over 15 years. 


She has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Master’s degree in Defence Studies. She has also undertaken courses in International Law with UNITAR, Geneva. 


Ms. Jaspreet has served in Spain, Nepal and Germany previously, apart from various stints at Headquarters in Ministry of External Affairs at New Delhi. With experience in both bilateral and multilateral work, Ms. Jaspreet has served as Director for the Oceania region as well as Director for UN-Political Division in the Ministry of External Affairs.


She takes interest in strategic studies and international relations apart from enjoying painting, writing travelogues and reading Indian writings. She speaks Punjabi, Hindi, English, Spanish and follows Nepali. She is a married to Mr. Punit Kumar Singh, a brand & communications strategist. They have a 11-year old son.
